Longtime owners of Brownsboro Hardware & Paint are selling their business to the store manager

Brownsboro Hardware & Paint has a new owner, according to a report from Louisville Business First. Longtime owners Jim and Marilyn Lehrer sold the well-known business to Louisville store manager Doug Carroll. The sale price is not disclosed. “After 23 years in the business here and decades in the hardware business, we’ve decided it’s time for a change,” Jim Lehrer said in a press release. “Although we had interest from several out-of-state owners, we wanted the property to stay local. Doug has been with us for over two decades and knows the business. It’s in good hands now. and in the future.” Carroll says he intends to continue the company’s community involvement and philanthropic efforts, such as EGGFest. There will be no changes to personnel. Brownsboro Hardware & Paint recently celebrated its 61st anniversary. A national hardware magazine, HBS Dealer, awarded the store its “Superstar” recognition for being the best hardware store in Kentucky for the past decade.
