EDWARDSVILLE — Borough police have charged a Plymouth woman with stealing nearly $10,000 from daily deposits while working as a store manager at the West Side Mall Dollar General store.
Christina Marie Yantorn, 35, of Turner Street, admitted to stealing money saying she was trying to get out of an abusive relationship, court records show.
Yantorn was arraigned Friday by District Judge David A. Barilla in Forty Fort on 12 counts of theft by deception and theft by failing to make the required disposition of funds. She was released on an unsecured bond of $5,000.
According to the criminal complaint:
Chrissy Yates, district manager for Dollar General, reported that Yantorn stole money from overnight deposits. Yantorn was the West Side Mall store manager.
Yates claimed the thefts took place from January 1 to February 11 for a total of $9,150, the complaint states.
Dollar General District Regional Manager Heather Sborz said the police deposit slips were changed because it appeared Yantorn had used old deposit slips and changed the date and cash amount before depositing. the daily cashing of the store, according to the complaint.
Yantorn allegedly made a written confession about the missing money.
Police included Yantorn’s statement in the complaint that they covered the dates and cash amounts on the deposit slips and that they would withdraw money from the deposit bag.
