Store Manager in Newburyport, MA – Money Diary

9 am – I actually have enough time to go to my favorite cafe / breakfast spot, yes! I get a great hot coffee, half French vanilla, half sticky cinnamon bread flavor (New England coffee is the best coffee – I will fight anyone on that, they have the best flavors and no syrup) and an egg white, green pepper, and cheese sandwich on an English muffin. I was living just down the street from this place when I first moved into town with my friends after college and we have become regulars. It’s a family-friendly place you walk in and they know your order even if you haven’t been in a month or two. $ 9.76

2:30 p.m. – I leave the store to go to our warehouse for a quick visit before returning home. Again, I realize I haven’t had breakfast (that’s the problem with eating two breakfasts a day) so I buy a bag of pretzels to snack on. I’ve been in the warehouse for about an hour and I’m going home at 3:45 p.m. Miraculously, I didn’t have any traffic and got home at 4:20 am. I fold the laundry and talk to my boss on the phone when I get home. $ 3.69

6:00 PM – Leftover chicken parm for dinner, which D. now deemed “disgusting” (loved it last night, toddlers are fun). We make him chicken nuggets in the microwave and he’s in his glory. Right after dinner we realize that we are out of diapers. S. goes to the market basket to pick up a bag while I stay at home and watch Vivo for the 500th time. $ 19.99

9:00 p.m. – S. receives an email invitation for her stepfather’s family holiday party. Despite the fact that her mother only remarried when S. was in college, we became very close to her husband and family. It helps that one of his sons is exactly our age, his wife and I look a lot alike, and they have a daughter that is only three months older than D. The Christmas party every year is great and involves a lot of alcohol, live music, and loads of food. This year they finally started charging RSVP a fee, which they really should have done years ago. This year it will be with our brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law which is amazing for us because it means we have a place to sleep! $ 50

9:30 p.m. – I’m placing an order for pickup at Target tomorrow. We’re also apparently almost running out of baby wipes and D.’s snack selection is dwindling (he’s either going through a growth spurt or just being a toddler because he’s saying “I’m hungry.” “about 100 times a day). S. is watching the Celtics game so I go to the bedroom and try, for the fourth time, to enter Maid on Netflix. Everyone swears I’ll love it, but I end up getting super emotional, cry and turn it off every time. I end up putting Office (for the 900th time) and fall asleep. $ 23.37

Daily Total: $ 106.81
