Store Manager – Zero Waste Shop job with Queen Mary University of London

The Store Manager will lead the front of house service delivery of the QM Store onsite at the Mile End Campus over 5 days a week, managing staff.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the commercial success of the Zero Waste retail store which opened in January 2022, in terms of project opening, marketing and campus outreach, team development and placement and sale of products.

The Zero Waste Shop is a concept store that requires a passion for sustainability and will enable the incumbent to foster sustainability and educate staff and students on the importance of a carbon neutral approach.

The Store Manager will recruit and develop student staff to operate the store. As the first foray into retail operations for QM Commercial, the role is essential and will be high profile within the commercial team.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 Recruit, train and manage student staff

 Lead front of house retail staff, to ensure they are trained, coached and managed to deliver best in class retail services.

 Ensure retail offering is tailored to customer needs in each store space to include diversity of offering, appropriate pricing levels, effective gross margins and customer satisfaction.

 Evolve the offering from pre-opening, through opening, to stable operation to ensure sales are maximized through product placement, promotion and store marketing through various media channels.

 Promote the retail offering on an ongoing basis with a 12 month promotional calendar supported by daily social media activity.

 Manage inventory and deliveries

 Establish storage container cleaning rotations in accordance with food safety standard

 Liaise with QM Food regarding potential stock waste to ensure it can be utilized and utilized within the time frame  Financial management of the store including revenue and budget management

 Liaise with the Student Enterprise team regarding the Shop Enterprise program, to ensure that the Student Enterprise program is maximized.

This role is on a starting salary of £39,695 based full-time (40 hours) on the Mile End campus. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to:
